Hare Radha Krishna iskcon store news

Can you imagine one city holding 500 Harinamas or distributing 500,000 of Srila Prabhupada’s books in one year?
That’s exactly what ISKCON of Pune in Maharashtra, India is doing as they ambitiously set out to 50th-ize the year 2016. And much, much more besides: the plan is to set higher-than-usual goals for all of Pune’s outreach efforts in multiples of five or fifty.
GBCs Radhanath Swami and Gopal Krishna Goswami, as well as supporter Lokanath Swami, are the inspiration behind the plan. Radheshyam Das – temple president at Pune for the past twenty years – is leading the charge. iskconnews.org/iskcon-pune-plans-ambitious-50th-ized-year,5370/

New Website on Natural Healing: “Cures That Work”

Gunagrahi Das Goswami
Gunagrahi Das Gowsami has made the following announcement:
Dear fellow Vaishnavas,
Throughout the years we have all sought natural cures for many of the illnesses we have had. In doing so, at times we have met with great difficulty trying to decipher which of the cures would actually be effective, often spending an undue amount of time in research or experimentation, even failing in the end. With the blessings of HH Prahladananda Swami, ISKCON’s Minister of Health, we are beginning a website called “Cures That Work.” It will consist of personal testimonials from devotees who have been successful in treating their illnesses or others’ effectively with natural remedies. If you or an acquaintance from any walk of life would like to submit an account, we encourage you to do so. Please include as many details as possible. Upon acceptance, your submission will be posted on the site as soon as we are up and running, which we hope will be by the end of January. The testimonials should be in English and include your name and also permission for further contact if you are agreeable to being reached by those who seek more information.
After this beginning phase gets established, we are considering expanding the website to provide additional resources, so we welcome any ideas you might have. Bhagavan das (GdG) is our project manager, and he will be receiving all testimonials and suggestions.

Ahmedabad Holds 5-Day Padayatra for ISKCON’s 50th

Between March 2014 and the end of 2016 – ISKCON’s 50th anniversary year – the Padayatra Worldwide Ministry is aiming to hold 50 padayatras, a kind of journey on foot accompanied by kirtan.
The first one in 2016 was a five-day affair held in the Indian state of Gujarat. Between January 15th and 19th, devotees walked from the ISKCON temple in Ahmedabad to Dakor, a Vaishnava pilgrimage site known for its grand temple of Ranchod Rai (a form of Lord Krishna).
The walk was organized under the guidance of ISKCON Ahmedabad temple president Jashomatinandana Das and Padayatra Minister Lokanath Swami, who organized ISKCON’s first Padayatra in India in 1976 and since then has seen Padayatras held in over 100 countries. iskconnews.org/ahmedabad-holds-5-day-padayatra-for-iskcons-50th,5358/

Radha Krishna Camp in Brazil: More Than a Retreat

Considering the major part of the list of things to bring - mat, repellent, water bottle, flashlight - it may seem like a holiday camp like any other. However, it does not take too long until the recommended items reveal that it is a different kind of camp. The list shows: tilaka, japa-mala, devotional clothes. After all, as one can read in the promotional poster, it is “more than an retreat”. Indeed: it not a simple retreat, but a spiritual retreat, and unique to young vaishnavas.
It was in Nova Gokula, Pindamonhangaba, Brazil, that was held the second edition of Radha Krishna Camp (RKC).iskconnews.org/brazil-radha-krishna-camp-more-than-a-retreat,5359/

Google’s Project Skybender will beam 5G Internet from solar-powered planes

Google plans to beam down high-speed 5G Internet via solar-powered planes, and is testing out the same in New Mexico, reports The Guardian.

Google is calling it Project Skybender, adds the report and is using an “optionally piloted plane called Centaur” along with solar-powered drones by Google Titan. The search giant acquired the Titan Aerospace company in 2014 and at MWC 2015 indicated that the drones would start conducting their first-tests to beam down Internet from the skies.

Project Skybender is taking this to the next level, with the focus being on high-speed 5G Internet. The Guardian report, notes that Google has set up its own flight control system at Spaceport America in New Mexico, which is incidentally the site where Virgin Galatic is supposed to start testing its flights meant for space travel. http://indianexpress.com/article/technology/tech-news-technology/google-project-skybender-5g-internet-planes/
